Senior Research Associate in Spatial Finance, Oxford Sustainable Finance Group
Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927
Closing date: 12:00 noon, Wednesday 3 August 2022
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Research Associate in Spatial Finance to lead our heavy industry research. Reporting to the Head of Transition Finance Research and the Director of OxSFG, and working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of the Spatial Finance Initiative and the Head of Machine Learning and Data Science, the postholder will be responsible for creating novel datasets and carrying out world-leading high impact research.
The Senior Research Associate will lead project teams working to develop, enhance, and deploy new global asset-level databases for heavy industry sectors (e.g. cement, steel, petrochemicals, aluminium). The postholder will also develop industry specific climate and environmental risk analysis at a global scale, either by adapting existing analytical frameworks (e.g. Carbon Lock-In Curves) or developing new ones. This will involve developing a detailed understanding of these sectors including the material climate and environmental factors they face. The postholder will also be responsible for developing new research and proposals around asset-level data and spatial finance. Finally, the postholder will collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and engage with senior external stakeholders and users.
The successful candidate must hold, or be near to completion of a relevant PhD/DPhil with significant research experience. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop novel research projects and methodologies, particularly in the emerging domain of transition finance.
An appointment at Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927 p.a. may also be considered for a less experienced candidate (with a Bachelor’s degree minimum requirement and suitable adjustment of responsibilities).
